Weather radar calibration system
The weather radar calibration system (X-band radar target simulator) performs range delay and Doppler shift on the received radio frequency radar carrier and retransmits them to the 9.3 to 9.5 GHz frequency band (configurable).

The radar target simulator is designed for the calibration and testing of the radar system. It can generate a virtual target with calibration range delay and Doppler shift. This multifunctional instrument can be adapted to almost any specific requirements quickly. By default, it comes with a comprehensive pulse analysis software that can record each radar pulse and determine their characteristics, such as shape, frequency, and distance to the next pulse. The meteorological radar calibration system can perform a test and calibration on the entire radar system, including the radar antenna and the radome, which can be calibrated.

Function description:
Working mode setting parameters. Such as carrier frequency, distance delay and Doppler speed options are set in the graphical user interface. The user can choose whether to store the received pulse IQ data for further analysis.
When a radio frequency radar carrier is received, it will be converted to DC at the intermediate frequency. The signal is retransmitted with a precisely determined time offset. By multiplying the received IQ signal with a complex sinusoidal signal, the frequency offset is added to the carrier. The amplitude of the radio frequency carrier is modulated to simulate a radar target that corresponds exactly to the predetermined radar cross section. This improved digital signal is up-converted in three stages, amplified and then transmitted back to the radar through the same horn antenna.
Pulse analysis:
A single radar pulse can be stored, either in a short measurement period, one sample per sample IQ data, or in a long measurement period, only characteristic information such as pulse width, average amplitude, frequency, and arrival time can be stored. The pulse is the time marked with the GPS clock.
