Robot TCP calibration system
The AutoCal system provides an online robot calibration solution designed to quickly and automatically ensure the working performance of mechanical equipment
Today, manufacturers are increasingly relying on industrial robots to improve efficiency and quality. Robots used for welding, cutting, material handling, painting and assembly must operate under high standards of reliability and repeatability/accuracy to meet the needs of modern manufacturers. This means that any mechanical failure of the robot system-whether it is the failure of the robot itself or the periphery, will result in a lot of wasted production time or many scrapped parts.
The AutoCal system provides an online robot calibration solution designed to quickly and automatically ensure the working performance of mechanical equipment. Because it is used in all aspects of robot applications and is compatible with most robot types, the AutoCal system can detect sudden changes or deviations of the robot's own structure and tool center point (TCP), and the system automatically corrects these errors without human intervention. This means that there is no need to guess what will go wrong, no need to waste precious time on repeated calibration of the robot program, and there is no loss of product quality.

The AutoCal system combines the proven DynaCal calibration technology into an online fully automatic system, which is designed for program control and recovery at a low price.
How the AutoCal system works
The AutoCal system comes in different forms, depending on the designated robot controller and its integration level (contact Dynalog for more information). However, a standard device contains:
(1) AutoCal software
(2) Microcontroller (optional)
(3) A sturdy industrial sensor.
The AutoCal system relies on simple and automated measurement of TCP, and does not require manual operation and interface. During the production cycle, the robot automatically executes measurement routines within a few seconds to evaluate the performance of the entire system and detect any drift or collision between the robot and the TCP. Any changes to the robot device or TCP can be automatically corrected through the "Restore Calibration" of the AutoCal system. Finally, before resuming production, the AutoCal system must confirm the accuracy of the corrected robot or TCP to ensure stable quality and process control.
