In the life sciences industry, there is a clear gap between subcellular/cellular microscopy and whole-body imaging modalities such as MRI, PET and CT. In addition, there is a lack of high resolution quantitative fluorescence imaging to significantly complement in vivo (animal) studies.
Xerra TM is based on cryofluorescence tomography (CFT), an in vitro molecular tissue imaging technique that allows high-resolution visualization of cell clumps, individual organs, and even entire animals. It is based on serial slices with off-the-shelf fluorescence imaging, reconstruction and analysis capabilities to provide comprehensive 3D fluorescence and 3D anatomical images from 2D images

Application field
Xerra TM has a number of research applications. In cancer biology, the technology allows extensive imaging and characterization of the tumor microenvironment and localization during cancer progression and metastasis. In the field of drug discovery, it adds a simplified imaging mode for drug characterization using fluorescent journalists. The technology can provide valuable insights into absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) information and visualize the entire animal in a cost-effective, time-sensitive manner. In addition, specific organs can be analysed and further characteristics can be inferred from the study.
