As materials undergo gradual oxidation, oxide layers accumulate on their surfaces. During the oxidation process, these materials emit faint luminescence. This emitted light, measuring merely one ten-thousandth of the luminosity of a firefly, can be detected by Chemiluminescence Analyzers (CLA) to analyze the oxidation reactions and degradation levels of materials.
