The 1200A and 1205A Isolated Muscle Testing Systems represent cutting-edge technology for quantifying the mechanical properties of isolated muscles. These systems are suitable for measuring samples such as the extensor digitorum longus, tibialis anterior, soleus, gastrocnemius, diaphragm, small muscles (e.g., flexor digitorum longus and lumbricals), and even engineered tissues, polymers, or thin films.
The system includes dedicated platforms for mouse or rat experiments, equipped with jacketed solution chambers and oxygenation systems. Additionally, the system incorporates Aurora Scientific’s flagship dual-mode muscle lever system, high-power stimulator, data acquisition hardware, and pre-installed control and analysis software on a custom computer.
Experimental setup, data acquisition, and analysis can all be completed within minutes using our control and analysis software (DMC/DMA). Parameters such as resting length, resting tension, stimulation settings, and experimental protocols can be configured via the DMC software. A library of expandable standard protocols is also available on the desktop, including: twitch tension, tetanic tension, fatigue, force-frequency, force-velocity, stiffness, and work loops, among others.
The experimental apparatus allows researchers to adjust the bath position, simplifying the process of connecting samples. The dual-mode transducer of the lever system not only measures force and length, but also controls them. With just one connection point between the muscle sample and the transducer, the system significantly reduces operational time and boosts data throughput. Our 300C Dual-Mode Muscle Lever System fully characterizes various muscle functions. The 300C sensor combines a force transducer and a position transducer. In addition to standard isometric twitch and isometric tetanic protocols, the 300C can easily perform isotonic contractions, eccentric contractions, and force-velocity tests, expanding far beyond basic measurements.
